Once your car insurance policy is set up with Marshmallow, we’ll send you a welcome email confirming that your car is now insured.

To check when your cover starts, look at your Certificate of Motor Insurance. You’ll see the exact start date and time there.

You can find this, along with your other policy documents, in the Marshmallow app or your online account. Learn more about your policy documents.

Unless we’ve told you that your policy has or will be cancelled, or you’ve chosen to cancel it yourself, your insurance remains active.

Can I drive before I pass the ID Check?

No. If you’ve been asked to complete an ID check, you must wait until it’s approved before driving.

We’ll send you a text message once your ID check has been successfully completed. Only then will you be legally insured to drive.

Why isn't my car showing up on askMID yet?

The Motor Insurance Database (MID), also known as askMID, is used to check if a car is insured.

If your car is not showing on askMID, please don’t worry. This is completely normal. Our system automatically sends your policy details to askMID as soon as your insurance starts.

It can take up to 7 working days before your vehicle appears on the askMID website.

Don’t worry, you’re legally insured to drive from your policy start date, and your MID record will always be backdated to that date.
