If you’ve been in a car accident, you might be shaken up. Talking to the other driver can be the last thing you want to do. Especially if you’re new to the UK and unsure of how all this stuff works.
The good news? You don’t have to chat for long. There are five key pieces of information to collect after a car accident, no matter who was at fault.
If you’re a Marshmallow customer, once you’ve got that information just give us a call– we’ll handle the rest.
What to ask the other driver
Before you start, it’s worth having something to take down the information, whether on your phone or a note pad.
- What’s their full name? This one’s nice and simple, just make sure you get the correct spelling.
- What’s their phone number? Don’t worry, you won’t need to call them. Your car insurance company will need it to help move things along smoothly.
- What’s their number plate? Whether you call it a number plate, registration plate, or licence plate – it’s the one on the front and back of their car.
- What’s their car insurance company? Knowing their car insurer helps your car insurance company to get everything sorted much faster.
- Are they the registered owner of the car? The owner is usually responsible for the legal side of things, like taxes and car insurance. If the driver isn’t the owner, ask who is and take down that person’s phone number too.
