If you have Breakdown Cover as part of your policy, you can get help by calling the 24 hour phone line. The number to call depends on where you are:

If you're in the UK:

  • Move to a safe location if possible.
  • Turn on your hazard lights.
  • Make sure everyone exits the vehicle safely.
  • Call the AA on the UK 24 hour emergency helpline: 03300 413675. Have your membership details ready.

Your cover level will determine what happens next: Roadside: The AA will try to fix your car on the spot or tow you to a nearby garage (within 10 miles). National: If needed, you'll be towed to any single UK location of your choice.

If you're in Europe (European cover only):

  • Follow local safety laws — use a warning triangle and wear a high-vis vest.
  • Contact the local emergency number if needed.
  • Call the European 24 hour emergency helpline: 00800 4243 2444 (this may incur international call charges).

You may be eligible for:

  • Local towing
  • Help finding spare parts
  • Emergency accommodation or travel
  • Vehicle recovery to the UK or your destination
