Quick answer: By renewing your policy as normal, you are agreeing to the new credit terms. If you do not want to agree, the only way to opt out is to turn off auto-renewal so your policy does not renew.

What is the new credit agreement?

When you pay for your insurance monthly, the monthly payment plan is set up as a credit agreement.

You may be shown a new credit agreement when your policy is up for renewal. This applies to you if:

  • Your have not agreed to a credit agreement on your current monthly instalment policy
  • You are switching from yearly payments to monthly payments at renewal.

When the renewal of your policy starts, you'll receive an email and see an alert in the Marshmallow app asking you to review the new credit terms.

What happens if I do nothing?

If you let your policy renew as normal, this counts as your agreement to the new credit terms. You do not need to sign anything separately or click any extra buttons.

After your renewal, your new credit agreement document will be saved in your policy documents in the Marshmallow app.

Where can I read the new credit agreement?

Your own credit agreement document, with the exact figures for your renewing policy, becomes available in your policy documents in the Marshmallow app once your policy has renewed.

What happens if I don't agree to the new credit agreement at renewal?

If you do not agree with the new credit terms, the only way to opt out is to turn off auto-renewal before your policy renews. There is no separate opt-out button.

What happens when I turn off auto-renewal?

  • Your current policy will keep running until your renewal date.
  • Your policy will not renew with us, so it will expire on that date.
  • After that date, you will not be insured with us. To stay insured, you would need to take out a new policy before your current one expires, either with us as a new customer, or with another insurer.

What if I change my mind?

If you turn off auto-renewal and then change your mind before your renewal date, you can start a live chat in the app or on our Help page and they can turn it back on for you. Your policy will then renew as planned, and renewing will count as your agreement to the new credit terms.
