As part of setting up your policy, we ask some new customers to take a few photos of their vehicle through the Marshmallow app. This creates a record of your car's condition at the start of your policy, which can support you if you ever need to make a claim.
What photos do I need to take?
You will be guided through the app to take photos of four areas of your vehicle: the body (front, rear, and both sides), your tyres, the VIN plate on your windscreen, and your dashboard with the engine running. The whole process takes around 2 to 3 minutes.
Why can I not upload a photo from my camera roll?
We need the photos to be taken at the time of submission through the app camera. This ensures the images are an accurate and up-to-date record of your vehicle's current condition.
How long do I have to complete it?
You have 7 days from when the task appears on your dashboard to complete the vehicle image upload. If you are not at your vehicle right now, you can come back to it whenever suits you within that time.
What if it is dark outside or my car is in a garage?
No problem. You can complete the task at any point within the 7-day window. We recommend doing it in daylight or a well-lit area so the photos are clear.
Does this affect my policy being activated?
No. Your policy is activated before you need to complete this step. The vehicle image upload does not block your cover from starting.
What happens if I do not complete it?
This is a requirement of your policy and we would encourage you to complete it when you can. Failure to complete it may affect your cover.
Is my data safe?
Yes. They are only accessible to authorised internal teams and are not shared with any third parties.
I sold or changed my car. Do I need to take new photos?
At the moment, vehicle image uploads are only required for new policies. If you change your vehicle on an existing policy, you do not need to submit new photos.
