We’ve teamed up with The AA to provide trusted car breakdown cover for Marshmallow customers. You can add it when you buy your Marshmallow policy or manage it in the app if you’re already a customer.
Types of breakdown cover at Marshmallow
Depending on the level of cover you choose, you’ll get different types of support. We offer three breakdown plans:
Roadside Assistance - £39.99 a year
If your car breaks down more than a quarter of a mile from your home, The AA will try to fix it at the roadside. If it can’t be fixed there and then, The AA will tow you to a nearby garage. You’ll also get unlimited call-outs.
National Recovery - £69.99 a year
Get all the above, plus UK-wide recovery and Home Start. This means you’ll get breakdown cover if your car won’t start at home or if it breaks down within a quarter of a mile of your home address.
European Cover - £99.99 a year
Everything in our National Recovery plan, plus extended cover to include recovery in Europe. If your car can’t be fixed quickly, you’ll get help to continue your journey. This could include:
- UK-wide onward travel if your car can’t be fixed
- Help with alternative travel in the UK and Europe
- Emergency accommodation in the UK or Europe
All our breakdown plans cover additional drivers who are insured to drive your car, so everyone’s protected in the event of a breakdown.
Note: Marshmallow Plus includes Roadside Assistance. You can upgrade to a higher level of breakdown cover before you buy.
Check your Marshmallow breakdown cover
If you’re already a Marshmallow customer and you have breakdown cover included in your policy, you can check your breakdown plan in the Marshmallow App:
- Open the Marshmallow App
- Tap View Policy Details
- Scroll down to the Add-ons section
If you don’t see Breakdown Cover there, you don’t have breakdown cover with us. If you already have breakdown cover, you can’t switch to another plan, but you may still have other options. Find out more.

Will I receive a courtesy car if my car breaks down?
No, we don’t provide a courtesy car if your car breaks down. Find out more about when courtesy cars are available.
